Neck Pain / Whiplash

Neck pain can occur suddenly (whiplash, neck sprain or wry neck) or can come on slowly with time and be due to postural problems, degenerative changes of the joints or muscle weakness.

The key to treating neck pain is to identify the cause.  Your therapist will examine your neck, rule out any of the more serious conditions, and determine what needs to be treated.

With neck pain in general, your therapist will consider the use of hands-on massage and manual/manipulative techniques to correct muscle and joint dysfunction; exercise to strengthen the small muscles that control your head movements; postural changes and ergonomic improvements, and even acupuncture or intramuscular stimulation.

Each person’s treatment plan will be specific to their particular needs.  As with all injuries or pains, our goal is to get you feeling better with the least amount of intervention possible.  The more you can do on your own, the less you will need to see us.
