Chiropractic

Our chiropractor Dr. Stephanie Imeson practices chiropractic out of our St. Albert Grandin Plaza location.

Chiropractic education focuses on the prevention, assessment, diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and associated neurological system. Their treatment goal is to relieve pain and improve function without surgery or drugs, using techniques such as joint manipulation or mobilization, soft tissue therapy, exercise, education, modalities (i.e. ultrasound or laser) and rehabilitation.

Specific training in spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) allows chiropractors to provide adjustments using highly skilled and precise movements to the vertebrae of the spine, correcting joint motion to restore proper movement and improve function. A manipulation, or adjustment, is defined as a high velocity, low amplitude thrust, which is targeted to a specific joint of the spine or extremities to reintroduce motion. This maneuver can be accompanied by an audible “pop”. When a joint is adjusted, an air bubble may escape from the joint capsule causing the popping noise- the “crack” sound people associate with chiropractic!
